Ownership suck.

Uncategorized Aug 20, 2020

I’m going to level with you here…

Ownership sometimes sucks.

It’s no fun to be wrong.

To make a mistake.

To f*up.

To fight fires...that YOU created.

And I do it...daily.

But…

You've gotta OWN IT.

Growth requires challenge, stress, and pushing past your perception of what is possible.

Sometimes that means that you won’t know what it means to go too far or to do too much until you’ve done it.

Because you’re heading into the unknown and that means you won’t know something until you know it, you know?

Just like with the body, sometimes you don’t know how sore you’re going to be in the middle of working out...but tomorrow or the next day, boy! Do you know.

You feel the soreness from having pushed beyond your edge.

Maybe that means you hold off on going back to the gym for a couple of days because your hamstrings are just shredded.

Or maybe it just means you do a really light gentle stretch workout the next day.

Or maybe you just get a massage...well, if you’re in the Gold Coast of Australia you can at least.

It’s the same in business.

You don’t know when you’ve pushed too far, when you’ve added too much onto your plate, when you’re in the middle of doing too much, until you’re in the middle of doing too much.

Yet, so often, having coached so many entrepreneurs through overwhelm…

They don't stop.

Their “muscles” of time, energy, profit, management, email sales are stretched and being overworked and they are NOT taking the rest to stretch or take a break.

They don’t think they can.

It’s like in the movie, The Red Shoes, about a dancer who puts on these magical redpoint shoes. She loves dancing, and at first, it feels amazing. She’s able to constantly be in motion. But eventually, she gets tired - she’s still human. But she can’t take the shoes off.

She doesn’t have anyone to pass off the shoes to. In the end, it’s a cautionary tale for being the solo operator, the solo dancer, in essence in your business.

This is like solopreneuring it without a team or support structure.

When YOU are the structure, and the pilot, and the passenger - you are in a cage. A cage you created.

And you gotta own that.

If you want to get out of that cage and liberate yourself into actually experiencing freedom, and movement, and flexibility in your business, without the “spasming,” then you need a team.

Someone who you can pass the shoes off to, so you can take turns dancing into freedom, AND also being able to get the rest and repair you need.

Seriously.

Insane.

But when you’re struggling to do the dance all on your own, and you’re feeling sore, like you really don’t want to work tomorrow, but you know you “have to.” That’s when it’s time to bring in a team.
