Oversaturated markets of Monets.

Uncategorized Sep 16, 2020

I know pretty much nothing about art. Other than a half a semester of art history in high school, where basically my only takeaway was understanding the difference between Baroque and Rococo because of that joke Cogsworth makes in Beauty and the Beast, I am pretty much lost in the art world.

I ONLY KNOW WHAT I LIKE...AND WHAT I LOVE.

I love impressionists - yeah, all the stuff you don’t need contacts for and requires a hint of imagination and feeling, that’s my jam.

There’s a vibe you get when you stand a foot away from one, where you feel the passion in the brushstrokes. You can sense the feeling in the globs of color, and swipes of the brush.

Back in the Impressionist Era, there were a lot of people doing blurry paintings with pretty colors.

Van Gogh.

Monet.

Manet.

Degas.

It got me wondering…

How many impressionists thought their market was oversaturated?

How many painters didn’t believe in their art because someone else was “already doing it?”

Markets can easily feel oversaturated, especially when Facebook is watching your every scroll, stop, comment, like, and click on content that’s either in your industry or in what you’re interested in.

So sure, if you’re a coach or a course creator, liking other coaches and course creators' work, the algorithm will boost more of that to your feed which can eventually feel overwhelming and uninspiring....especially if you feel like you’re not doing “enough.”

Back when I was working in Hollywood, I thought EVERYONE and their mother wanted to be an actor.

Now it seems like everyone is turning into being a coach, course creator, or influencer.

And you know what…

That’s okay.

Here’s the thing I didn’t get when I was 17, that now, a decade and a half later, I totally understand.

There is no course, no book, no business, no project, no Instagram account, no podcast, no

That has been done like YOU.

IT’S NOT THE MARKET THAT’S OVERSATURATED. IT’S YOUR MINDSET.

When you’re filling your head with comparison, jealousy, fear, and scarcity...yeah, everything is going to feel a lot fucking harder to do.

But, look, Queen…

No one can ever do like you.

No one can ever create like you.

No one can ever be you.

Because there's ONLY you.

YOU ARE ONLY IN COMPARISON WITH YOUR FEAR-BASED SELF.

That’s it. Period.

You are a masterpiece in motion, the headline act, the star, the lead, the solo…

WHEN YOU DECIDE YOU ARE.

Period.

There is no comparison. There is simply crappy thinking.

IT IS YOUR AUTHENTIC MESSAGE, BRAND, VIBE, STYLE, LIFE, BEING THAT WILL ATTRACT A WHOLE OTHER DIFFERENT CUSTOMER THAN SOMEONE ELSE’S…

Even they’re using a similar system.

Even if your course is on the same topic.

Even if your product is

And if they’re copycats...well, copycats don’t last.

It is your ENERGY that people are drawn to, and the energy of plagiarism, whether it’s someone else’s system, business, name, work, or even beliefs that you may have adopted falls short.

For when you can strip yourself clean of the comparison and OWN all of your uniqueness, all your mistakes, messes, experiences, lessons, learnings, education, growth, trials, tragedies, victories, and celebrations into your being…

That is how you differentiate a Van Gogh from a Monet.

SO STOP COMPARING YOURSELF TO HIM, OR HER, OR THEY, OR THAT BUSINESS, OR THAT COURSE, OR THAT THING, OR THAT PERSON…

And start OWNING ALL of who you are.

Remember, your reign is now.
