and host of this Crown Yourself podcast, your high-performance coach and subconscious mind miracle whisperer. And I was sitting on our couch and I was watching my boys get ready to go jump in the pool. And they were so excited because, oh my gosh, have you ever seen the energy of an almost seven-year-old and an almost three-year-old? Holy moly. The amount of energy that those two have like to just engage in that amount of energy that they just purely, divinely generate is phenomenal. So I'm watching them and they're all excited and they've got their swimsuits on and they're going and they're like running toward the door and they're trying to get out and they're like, shake, shake, shake, shake shake shake shake shake shake shake shake shake shake shake shake that door handle. Well, we installed, thanks to the wisdom of my mother that we installed the secondary lock. The secondary lock is about four feet higher than the first lock on our door. And that's because we have a pool, and we don't want our littles running out into the pool when they don't fully know how to swim.

And we also have a big house in space, and we just wanted to make sure that everyone was safe. So we added secondary locks on all the doors and I'm like, I'm so grateful that my mom suggested that because she was very concerned and I was like, oh my gosh, that was such a brilliant suggestion. I'm very grateful to her and her wisdom. And I was watching this, this absolute burst of energy, and seeing my two boys just violently shaking the handles on our glass doors, and I'm like, oh crap. Like, don't break them. And then the boys know they're not supposed to do that, but they when they get so excited, it's hard to control their body. And so often I see this with entrepreneurs as I was sitting there watching the show, and I'm just like, all they need to do is look up and ask someone to unlock that top lock. That's it. There's not a gigantic secret to how they can get outside faster, but they had so much energy and enthusiasm and momentum, but it was all stuck in one place and they weren't actually going to their destination.


Kimberly Spencer (00:03:22)

They were still a door, a world apart. How often do you shake the handle of the door to your next level? Violently and like, enthusiastically and vigorously. And really, you just need to take a breath and remember there's a second lock. You just gotta turn it. How often do you actually just need to take a breath and unlock the door so you can actually walk through the door that you say you want to walk through? My question to you on this podcast today is what is that top lock for you? What is that top lock? Maybe that top lock for you is hiring a coach. Is working with someone who can just be like, hey, yeah, you got through all this and you did all this, but did you just do this one thing? Like, did you call that customer back? Did you send that follow-up email? Oh. Does that sound like something that could, you know, potentially lead to that sale? Oh, yeah. Okay. Like, I was just on a coaching call with our interview to income accelerator members, and that is our membership with our Communication Queens Agency, which is our sister business.

And I was coaching them on setting up the funnel for guest podcasting. And most people think, oh, well, then I have to have a podcast. And I said, no, you just need to have a page that's dedicated to all the podcast interviews that you've done, and then direct people to that and make sure that on that page you have an email capture and a pop-up. And so often that basic marketing principle of like, if people come to your website, have a pop-up or have an opt-in form that's above the fold, and if you don't know what the meaning above the fold is, it means like before you scroll down. So it makes it really easy for any person who is on your website, either on mobile or on desktop, to see like, oh, if I want more information or if I want to subscribe to their newsletter and be on their email list, which by the way, your email list you own, like when they opt-in, that is the lock that then opens the door to now they're a lead.


Kimberly Spencer (00:05:42)

Now it's no longer just traffic. Now they're a lead. And so often that's the thing that's blocking the door. Because in any business you need three things. You need traffic, leads, and conversions. That is the TLC of your business. And I learned that from my mentor, James Wedmore. And so if you're not getting leads, then look at whether are you having any form of opt-in or follow-up with anyone. And this is why basic principles like for example if we're going to get really nitty gritty when some there is so often where you will want to opt in for a product or a service or something and you're like, yes, I want an I want this, I want this thing. And then you have to enter your email first before you get taken to the page with a thing. Why? Because sometimes people see stick get sticker shock and they're like, oh my gosh, I didn't realize it's $797 for a high-performance consult. I thought I was just going to get some free, like 20 minutes, like a conversation.


Kimberly Spencer (00:06:45)

But no, this is like a paid intensive consult. I've had that so often with our consult where they're like, oh my gosh, that's a $797 for 90 minutes. And I'm like, yeah, and you'll have a whole plan that can increase your sales 300% in the next 12 months. Is that worth 90 minutes of your time? Yeah, most people will say that, but sometimes they need a little support. And so if you have a pop-up with an opt-in, where suddenly instead they click the button, they're like, yes, I went in and before taking them to that checkout page, you have a pop-up that's like, enter your name and email, and then you take them to the checkout page. Why? Because then if they bounce when they get a little sticker shock, then you get to follow up with them on email and be like, hey, reframe this objection, reframe this objection, reframe this objection. Do you want to wait another year without a 300% increase in your sales? Is that like, is that really something you want to do, or do you want to just either now, like, do you want to actually have that conversation around your business and your performance and the increasing of the fulfillment and joy and purpose in your life, like now.

Like, would you rather have that now and so often then that that pop-up, that one little strategy will create greater conversion, but it comes from unlocking that top lock on a door. So whether it's having that two-step opt-in on your website or on any sort of conversion page, or whether it's in your follow-up or whether it's in your pursuit of that ideal client who you've been nurturing, you've been emailing, you've been connecting, you've been texting, you've been touching base with that nurture can be that top lock that maybe you just need to stick with that person instead of going, I'm gonna go out and find all the other leads and all the other leads. Maybe you just need to stick with that one. Like just because they turned you down a month ago doesn't mean that it's forever no, it means it's not right now. Okay, cool. Great. Pivot shift. So what is that lock that is stopping you from fully getting to that destination? So I used a marketing example.

Sometimes that lock can also be with your kids, right? Or your spouse. And you've been like trying all the things like make your relationship work. And maybe that lock is you just need to like, shut up and you just need to listen to what they have to say without inputting your perception onto them. Maybe they just need some space to, like, actually think through the problem on their own instead of you like rushing in, I'm gonna fix it. I'm gonna take our relationship to the next level. Maybe that lock is just you taking a breath and saying, let me really hear from you. Let me hear what you have to say. Look at what that secondary lock is for you. And on the other side of that will be your transformation. And if you are like, yeah, I'd like to unlock that lock with someone who has the experience and the training to show me what those locks are that's currently in my business, and being fully aware of the secondary lock of that.
